The 2020 BMW S 1000 XR is now available in India in a single, top-spec variant that costs Rs 20.90 lakh (ex-showroom). However, if you are looking for options in the ballpark of the S 1000 XR’s price, there are three options to choose from.
BMW S 1000 RR
On offer from BMW itself is the S 1000 XR’s supersport sibling- the S 1000 RR that comes with a price tag of Rs 18.50 lakh for the standard variant. BMW is also offering the motorcycle in Pro and Pro M Sport variants that cost Rs 20.95 lakh and Rs 22.95 lakh respectively. The S 1000 RR shares the 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine with the S 1000 XR. However, the unit on the S 1000 RR comes with the ShiftCam technology and churns out 204bhp and 113Nm of torque.
Triumph Rocket 3 R
The Rocket 3 R is Triumph’s answer to the Ducati Diavel 1260. It is priced at Rs 18 lakh. With a commanding road presence similar to its previous counterparts, the Rocket 3 R comes powered by the largest engine in a production motorcycle. The 2500cc, inline-three motor churns out 165bhp and a massive 221Nm of torque. Triumph has also equipped the bike with a traction control system, hill-hold control, cornering ABS, and four ride modes along with a full-colour TFT display that has Bluetooth connectivity.
Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Special
If you want to opt for a cruiser motorcycle in the price range of the 2020 BMW S 1000 XR, the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Special costs Rs 20.10 lakh. True to its name, the motorcycle gets massive tyres at both ends and offers a relaxed riding position thanks to the sweptback handlebars and forward-set footpegs. Powering the motorcycle is a 1868cc, V-twin Milwaukee 114 engine that puts out 155Nm of torque.
