Harley- Davidson has launched the 2020 Iron 883 in India with a price tag of Rs 9.26 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle remains the same cosmetically although its 883cc, V-twin motor is now BS6-compliant. Nevertheless, if you are looking for options in the price range of the new Iron 883, here are the four options to choose from.
The Triumph Speed Twin sports a modern-retro styling with a slightly bent-forward riding stance as compared to the Iron 883’s city cruiser riding posture. The Speed Twin comes powered by a 1200cc, parallel-twin motor that generates 96bhp and 112Nm of torque. In terms of riding aids, Triumph has loaded the motorcycle with traction control, ride-by-wire throttle and three modes- Rain, Road and Sport. As for pricing, the Speed twin retails at Rs 9.46 lakh.
Besides the Speed Twin, Triumph also offers the Bonneville T100 around the same price as the 2020 Harley-Davidson Iron 883. Now, the ‘Bonnie’ T100 is a retro-styled motorcycle with a reputation of being one of the most popular Triumph models globally. It has most of its components finished in chrome for that retro appeal but uses a very modern, 900cc, parallel-twin motor. This engine produces 54bhp and 80Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. You could get your hands on the Triumph Bonneville T100 for a price of Rs 8.87 lakh.
A direct competitor to the Triumph Bonneville in India is the Ducati Scrambler range, offering around five differently styled variants. One of these is the Scrambler Cafe Racer and like its name suggest bears a design reminiscent of motorcycles from the 80s. Moreover, the silver and blue paint scheme, blue seat, bar-end mirrors, small front fender and racing number plate on the sides complete its look. The Scrambler Cafe Racer is powered by a 803cc, L-twin engine that puts out 72bhp and 67Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 9.78 lakh.
Another variant from the Scrambler range is the Desert Sled that is priced at Rs 9.93 lakh. The off-road focused motorcycle comes with high-set front mudguard, knobby tyres, motocross-style handlebar, long travel suspension and increased ground clearance to match its character. And similar to the Cafe Racer, the Desert Sled uses an 803cc, L-twin motor that produces 72bhp and 67Nm. In addition to the cornering ABS on the former, the Desert Sled also comes with switchable ABS.
All prices ex-showroom.
