Honda will launch the new Africa Twin in India on 5 March. With just a week left before it arrives in the country, we tell you what to expect from Honda’s flagship adventure motorcycle.
New styling
The Africa Twin CRF 1100L retains the silhouette of the earlier model however, Honda has tweaked the overall styling and made it more aggressive. It sports a pair of restyled full-LED headlamps and LED DRLs. The Africa Twin’s tail section is also sleeker and motorcycle’s upswept exhaust has gotten beefier, adding to its visual appeal.
Bigger engine
Powering the 2020 Honda Africa Twin CRF 1100L is a new 1048cc, parallel-twin engine that churns out 102bhp of power and 105Nm of torque; a substantial increase from the 2019 model’s 86bhp and 93Nm output. Revised mechanicals Apart from the bigger engine, Honda has also equipped the new Africa Twin with a revised frame, an aluminum subframe, lighter swingarm as well as a lighter engine and gearbox construction.. This has further resulted in overall reduction in weight of the motorcycle.
Updated electronics
The 2020 Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L’s electronics suite now includes wheelie control, cornering ABS, rear-lift control, cruise control, as well as cornering lights. It also features a new 6.5-inch TFT touch screen display with the Apple CarPlay function.
Two variants
Honda will offer the motorcycle in two variants- standard and Adventure Sports. The manufacturer will also introduce the manual variant along with the DCT gearbox variant that is available on the 2019 Africa Twin.
Pricing
We expect Honda to price the new Africa Twin between Rs 14.3 lakhs to Rs 14.45 lakhs; a premium of Rs 1-1.5 lakhs over the outgoing model. Bookings for the motorcycle will commence soon and deliveries are likely to take place from April 2020.
