- 2020 Honda Dio BS6 launched in India
- Prices start at Rs 59,990 for the standard model
- Gets a host of updates over the BS4 version
Honda has launched its third BS6-compliant scooter, the 2020 Dio, in India. The company has introduced the new model in two variants including standard and deluxe priced at Rs 59,990 and Rs 63,340 (both prices are ex-showroom), respectively. Notably, this is a premium of up to Rs 7,000 over its BS4 counterpart.
The company has given a host of updates in the new Dio. To start with, the sporty styling of the scooter have become edgier now with a redesigned headlamp, position lamp and tail lamp along with sharper contours across its bodywork. It also been adorned with funkier graphics and a split grab rail at the rear.
The new Dio also comes with added features such as an ACG silent starter, side stand engine inhibitor, external fuel filler cap, dual function switch integrating seat and fuel lid opener, front pocket and a new DC LED headlamp. Interestingly, it also retains the fully-digital instrument cluster with more information such as fuel range, average fuel efficiency and real-time fuel efficiency.
Now, making it compliant with the new BS6 emissions norms is a reworked 109.19cc engine which now gets Honda’s programmed fuel-injection, in place of the previous carbureted set up. The company claims the new motor delivers power in a smoother and more linear way.
Coming to the cycle parts, the 10-inch wheel and trailing-link suspension of the outgoing model have made way for a 12-inch wheel with telescopic forks, similar to the Activa 6G. The rear continues to ride on a 10-inch wheel suspended by a monoshock. Braking is handled by drum brakes at both ends, assisted by combined braking system. To give it more stability, Honda has also marginally increased the wheelbase of the Dio.
Honda is selling the new Dio BS6 with a six-year warranty including a three-year standard and three-year optional extended warranty. The scooter is available in four colour options including blue, red, orange and grey. In terms of competition, it goes up against the TVS Jupiter 110, Hero Pleasure Plus 110 and the Hero Maestro Edge 110.
