- 2020 Honda Dio BS6 teaser video released

After recently launching the new Activa 6G in India, Honda is all set launch the 2020 BS6 version of its sportier sibling, the Dio. The upcoming model of the scooter has been officially teased on the internet, revealing a couple of details about its styling and features.
The teaser video of the 2020 Dio asserts that its sporty styling will get edgier with more angular body panels. While it will retain the V-shaped LED DRL on the handlebar cowl, the conventional headlamp will be replaced by an LED unit. The design of the overall headlamp and turn indicator assembly will also be sharper and will be accompanied by faux air intakes on both sides with carbon-fibre finishing. The cosmetic changes will be complete with a new set of funkier decals across its body work.
The video also shows a ‘DX’ badge on the side panels and the front apron suggesting it will continue to be sold in two variants. Although the option of front disc brake is not available as of now, Honda might introduce it in the higher-spec trim of the 2020 model. Moreover, the existing trailing-link front suspension will make way for telescopic suspension while the rear will retain the monoshock.
It will be powered by the same BS-compliant, 109.5cc, fuel-injected motor which does duty on the Activa 6G. The engine produces 7.7bhp and 8.79Nm which is a marginal drop as compared to its BS4 version. Furthermore, the ‘Quiet Revolution’ text in the video also indicates that the new Dio will get a silent starter, along with other added features. In order to make it more accommodating, Honda might also tweak the dimensions of the Dio as it has done with the Activa 6G.
The BS4 Honda Dio is priced at Rs 55,864 (standard) and Rs 57,864 (deluxe) (both prices are ex-showroom). The new BS6 model could witness a hike of around Rs 5,000-8,000. In terms of competition, it goes up against the TVS Jupiter and Hero Pleasure Plus 110.
