Indian Motorcycle has officially revealed its new line-up of models for 2020. While this includes all the offerings, from the entry-level Scout Sixty to the flagship Roadmaster Elite, what’s interesting is that select models in the portfolio feature the brand’s new Thunder Stroke 116 powerplant.
The array of models to be powered by the new motor includes the 2020 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse, Chieftain Limited, Chieftain Elite, Roadmaster, Roadmaster Dark Horse and the Springfield Dark Horse. The existing iterations of these models are powered by the Thunder Stroke 111 mill which has a displacement of 1,811cc and belts out 151Nm of peak torque. On the contrary, the new 116 mill is a 1890cc behemoth which produces a staggering 170.8Nm of torque. To achieve that extra pull from the motor, Indian has altered it with a bigger bore, new cylinder head and a higher compression ratio.
Besides the new powerplant, the Indian models which are equipped with the Ride Command Infotainment system have also received a major software update. Featuring a new and faster quad-core processor, the system will now provide traffic and weather updates while navigating through GPS. What’s more, the updated system also comprises of predictive destination searches and customizable display themes.
The 2020 line-up of Indian Motorcycle has been revealed only for the international markets as of now. Expect the new models to be introduced for the Indian market by the end of this year or early-2020. Notably, amongst the bikes which are powered by the new Thunder Stroke 116 engine, the models available in India include the Chieftain Dark Horse, Chieftain Limited, Roadmaster and the Springfield Dark Horse.
