Kawasaki recently launched the new Ninja 650 in India and is expected to update its line-up with the 2020 Ninja 1000 soon. So before it is introduced in the country, we tell you what to expect from the upcoming new Kawasaki Ninja 1000.
Revised styling
Kawasaki has retained the design silhouette of the previous Ninja 1000 although making slight adjustments to the bodywork to set the new model apart. Hence, the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 looks sharper, especially at the front end which also houses twin headlamps with full-LED lighting. The rear section also looks stubbier and features a redesigned LED tail lamp. The new Ninja 1000 has done away with the dual exhaust system for a single-sided, single-outlet canister.
Touring friendly upgrades
The Ninja 1000 was always positioned as a touring motorcycle. However, with the updates it has received, the 2020 model is now complete as a sports tourer. Kawasaki has revised the rider and pillion seat for added comfort on long hauls. It has also fitted the motorcycle with a four-way adjustable windscreen and is likely to offer a larger windscreen as an accessory.
Updated electronics
Apart from the revised ergonomics, the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 also offers a cruise control system as standard along with traction control and ride modes. Furthermore, the motorcycle now features a 10.9cm, Bluetooth-enabled, full-colour TFT screen that can be paired to a smartphone using the Kawasaki Rideology app.
Revised, BS6-compliant engine
The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 retains the 1043cc, in-line four-cylinder engine. However, this motor has been revised to not only reduce emissions but also running noise. And while it continues to produce 140bhp at 10,000rpm the 111Nm of torque comes in 700rpm later at 8000rpm.
Pricing
Kawasaki is expected to price the new Ninja 1000 at Rs 10.79 lakh, ex-showroom. That is a premium of Rs 50,000 over the BS4 model was priced at Rs 10.29 lakh.
