- 2020 Kawasaki Z650 BS6 reaches dealerships
- Official launch took place in May 2020
- Demands a premium of Rs 25,000 over the previous model
The 2020 Kawasaki Z650 BS6 has started arriving at dealerships in India. The naked street bike was launched in May 2020 in the country with a price tag of Rs 5.94 lakh (ex-showroom).That’s a premium of Rs 25,000 over the previous BS4 model, which is marginal considering the updates it has received.
Firstly, the engine of the bike has been revised to comply with the BS6 emissions norms, but it continues to produce the same power and torque as before. In fact, Kawasaki has re-tuned it for a better mid-range torque delivery. Powering the motorcycle is a 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC mill which makes 67.3bhp and 64Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
In terms of styling, the 2020 Z650 retains the overall silhouette of its predecessor. However, it gets an angrier-looking full-LED headlamp surrounded by a cowl with sharper lines. The fuel tank and extensions have also been redesigned for a beefier stance. Another update comes in the form of a new 4.3-inch, full-colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone pairing. For better grip on the road, the motorcycle also comes equipped with Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres now.
In India, the 2020 Kawasaki Z650 BS6 competes against the CFMoto 650NK and the Benelli TNT600i which is likely to receive a major update soon.
