2020 Kawasaki Z650 BS6 launched in India

Kawasaki has updated its Indian portfolio with the launch of the BS6-compliant Z650. The middleweight naked roadster has been priced at Rs 5,94,000. The BS6-compliant model commands a premium of Rs 25,000 over the BS4 version which was sold at Rs 5,69,000.

Apart from the BS6-upgrade, the latest iteration of the Z650 also features a full-LED headlamp, redesigned angular tank shrouds and a Bluetooth-enabled 4.3-inch, full-colour TFT instrument console. The instrument cluster works with Kawasaki Rideology app. The 2020 model also gets Dunlop Roadsport 2 tyres.

Engine specifications include a BS6-compliant 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC, eight-valve engine that is tuned to produce 67.3bhp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,700rpm. The figures are the same as the BS4 model. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox.

The hardware on the motorcycle comprises of 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the back to perform the shock absorption tasks. Anchoring power comes from 300mm, twin discs at the front and a 220mm single rotor at the back. The motorcycle will be offered in a single colour option – Metallic Spark Black.

The Kawasaki Z650 rivals the Benelli TNT 600i in the Indian market, although the latter has not yet been updated to comply with the newest emission norms.
