- Gets Z900-inspired LED headlight
- Features Bluetooth-enabled colour-TFT display
- Will carry a price premium over the BS4 model
India Kawasaki Motors will soon update its portfolio with the launch of the 2020 Z650 BS6. The launch of the middleweight naked roadster and its fully-faired sibling, the Ninja 650, was postponed due to the country-wide lockdown. We expect the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer to launch the motorcycle once the lockdown is over (currently scheduled to end on 4 May 2020).
The BS6-compliant Z650 will be sold in a single colour option – Metallic Spark Black. The latest iteration of the motorcycle features a major visual overhaul as compared to its predecessor. The front fascia, for example, now features a Z900 inspired full LED headlight and a sharper cowl. The updates also include a new, colour-TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity. The RIDEOLOGY THE APP offers access to several functions.
Mechanical specifications include a 649cc, parallel-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 67.3bhp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,700rpm. In comparison, its predecessor produced 67.2bhp and 65.7Nm. The engine continues to use a six-speed gearbox.
The hardware on the BS6-compliant Kawasaki Z650 continues to include steel-trellis frame, 41mm front forks, preload-adjustable rear mono-shock, petal-type disc brakes on both wheels and dual-channel ABS. The company has upgraded the tyre setup, and the latest iteration of the Z650 comes with a wider (160/60ZR17) rear tyre.
The upcoming Kawasaki Z650 BS6 will be priced between Rs 6.25-6.50 lakh*. The BS4-compliant model, in comparison, was sold for 5.69 lakh*.
