The 2019 Triumph Rocket III hasn’t been much of a secret with photos of the bike being leaked from a dealership meet. Now, a near production-ready version has been spotted testing in the open.
Triumph has given the Rocket III a complete makeover in terms of cosmetics and mechanicals. Unlike the previous gen’s cruiser styling, the 2019 bike sports a power cruiser design. It gets a flat handlebar and slightly forward-set foot pegs for a mildly aggressive yet upright riding position. The shorter rear section integrates the tail lamp and the twin slash-cut exhaust pipes expose the rear-wheel, lending the Rocket III a raw appeal. It sports twin headlamps similar to the previous model, although the new bike gets LED-lighting.
The bike is expected to be powered by a 2500cc, inline-three cylinder engine that produces 180bhp and a massive 230Nm of torque. The 2019 Rocket III will continue to be shaft driven although with a single-sided swingarm. The 2019 bike rides on a monoshock at the rear that replaces the twin-shocks from the previous bike. Suspension duties at the front are now been taken care of by beefy-looking inverted forks. The braking hardware is also updated with Brembo brakes along with ABS.
Triumph has also seemed to have equipped the bike with an instrument cluster similar to their newer 1200cc range like the Scrambler 1200 and Speed Twin. We expect the Rocket III to offer electronic aids like ride modes, traction control and even the GoPro control feature.
The manufacturer is likely to showcase the new Rocket III by the end of this year at the EICMA show as a 2020 model. It is expected to reach Indian shores by early 2020.
