- 2020 Street Triple RS will get a redesigned LED headlamp
- Could also get a more powerful 765cc, in-line triple motor
- Will remain the same in terms of mechanicals
A month after we saw the 2020 Street Triple on test, Triumph has now released a teaser video of the RS version of the motorcycle. Besides giving us a glimpse of the naked streetfighter, the company has revealed that its next-generation model will be officially unveiled on 7 October 2019.
The spy shots of the motorcycle had emerged in August and the most prominent element was the angrier and sharper looking headlamp unit. The teaser video clearly shows this new headlamp design sporting a pair of tiny LED units with eye brow-like DRLs on top. The video also flashes the silhouette of the motorcycle which reveals minor changes to certain areas. This includes a new radiator cowl, altered pillion seat and a slightly revised tail section.
While the existing Street Triple RS already packs a potent motor, the powerplant on the upcoming version is expected to be further powerful. It is likely to get the 765cc, in-line triple engine derived from Triumph’s upcoming Daytona 765cc supersport. Notably, this motor will also get changes required to make the bike compliant with upcoming Euro 5 emission norms.
In terms of mechanicals, the silhouette reveals that most of the parts such as chassis, sub-frame, suspension and brakes will be the same as the existing model. Although the instrument cluster couldn’t be seen in the video, it might be upgraded in terms of design, layout and information. The rider aids could also see an addition of cornering ABS and bi-directional quickshifter which have been given a miss on the current model.
The 2020 Street Triple is one of the multiple offerings Triumph will be comprehensively updating for next year. We have already seen spy shots of the next-gen Tiger 800 which is likely to get a bigger motor along with the Bonneville Bobber which will be introduced in a new avatar.
