2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 spied in action

- 2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 (XC) will use a 21-inch front wheel

- The styling will be inspired by the new Triumph Tiger 900 series

- The new flagship Tiger series motorcycle may receive a displacement increase

A test mule of the upcoming, 2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 was spotted during test runs, and the new spy images reveal several details about the motorcycle. The hardware, for example, will carry a major upgrade, which will make the flagship Tiger series product more off-road ready than its predecessor. The upcoming, 2020 Triumph (XC) will use a 21-inch front wheel instead of a 19-inch unit on the outgoing version. The road-biased XR model, on the other hand, should retain the 19-inch front/17-inch rear, alloy wheel setup.

The styling will also receive a major makeover, and the 2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 will carry a sleeker design that will be inspired by the new Tiger 900 range. The lean styling should offer more space for the rider to move around while off-roading. The updated feature list will comprise a full-LED headlight and a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster. The outgoing model already packed an electronically controlled suspension setup, and the same should be retained on the 2020 iteration of the motorcycle.

Another feature that will be retained from the outgoing model is the shaft-drive system. However, it will be interesting to see if Triumph Motorcycles will increase the displacement of the motorcycle. Its rivals such as the BMW GS and the Ducati Multistrada Enduro have already moved up on the displacement ladder, and the upcoming Triumph Tiger may also see a similar upgrade. While the details are scarce, we could see a 1,250cc, inline three-cylinder motor on the upcoming model.

The chassis will also undergo upgrades, and the 2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 will use a bolted sub-frame instead of a welded unit on the outgoing version.

The styling and equipment upgrade on the XC model will make it more off-road ready than its rivals such as the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure and the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro, which should work in the British brand’s favour. The unveiling/launch details are yet to be revealed although we could see the final product in the second half of 2020.
