- 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 India launch tomorrow
- To be available in three variants – GT, Rally and Rally Pro
- Pre-bookings have commenced at Rs 50,000
Triumph is all set to launch the next-generation model of its adventure tourer, the 2020 Tiger 900, in India tomorrow, 19 June. Pre-bookings for the motorcycle had already begun last month for a token amount of Rs 50,000. In terms of pricing, it is likely to demand a considerable premium over its predecessor, the Tiger 800. The entry-level variant is likely to be pegged at around Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Triumph Tiger 900 is a comprehensively updated motorcycle with a new styling and more features. And as the ‘900’ suffix indicates, it also gets a larger engine. The design of the motorcycle is much sleeker and compact than the previous model. Interestingly, it has also lost a considerable amount of weight now.
The Tiger 900 is available in six variants in the international market, of which, three will be coming to India – GT, Rally and Rally Pro. While the GT is the road-biased model, the Rally is an adventure-oriented variant with more premium hardware and spoke wheels. The Rally Pro, meanwhile, is the higher-spec version of the latter. The standard equipment list in the bike comprises of four riding modes, traction control, new TFT console, cornering ABS, cruise control and full-LED lighting.
Clinging on to its new steel trellis frame is an 888cc, in-line three cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which churns out 93.9bhp of power and 87Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch as standard while the Rally Pro model also features bi-directional quick shifter.
The new Triumph Tiger 900 will take on the new 2020 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports in India. Following the launch of the new Tiger, Triumph will also launch the mid-spec R version of the Street Triple.
