The TVS Jupiter is the manufacturer’s highest selling products in India. The manufacturer recently updated the scooter which has three variants- standard, ZX, and Classic. Here we list down what’s new in the 2020 TVS Jupiter.
Added features
The new TVS Jupiter retains the design of the first-ever model launched in 2013. Its compact and edgy styling is aimed to appeal to a wider audience. However, TVS has equipped the Jupiter with a full-LED headlamp as standard. Moreover, the Jupiter standard and ZX variants get a provision for charging port while the top-spec Jupiter Classic gets a USB charger as well. The Classic variant is additionally equipped with a redesigned, dual-tone seat and a tinted windscreen.
More storage
Apart from the 2-litre utility box in the front and a hook at the edge of the seat, the new Jupiter offers more storage. TVS has moved the battery from under the seat to the front apron resulting in a large, 21-litre under-seat storage capacity as against the previous model’s 17-litre capacity.
Bigger fuel tank
Furthermore, the new Jupiter also gets a 6-litre fuel tank that replaces the earlier 5-litre unit. In comparison, its biggest rival, the Honda Activa 6G offers a 5.3-litre fuel tank.
Fuel-injected engine
TVS has updated the Jupiter’s 109cc engine to comply with BS6 norms. The motor now gets a fuel-injection system and produces 7.3bhp; slightly lower than the BS4 model. Nevertheless, the torque figure remains the same at 8.4Nm.
No option of disc brake
TVS is offering all three variants with drum brake as standard. The scooter comes with SBT (Sync Braking Technology) but misses out on the option of a front disc brake.
Pricing
TVS has priced the standard Jupiter at Rs 61,499 while the ZX variant costs Rs 63,499. These models cost a premium of Rs 2,102 and Rs 3,459 over their BS4 counterparts. On the other hand, the top-of-the-line Jupiter Classic is priced at Rs 67,911; an increase of Rs 7,921 over the BS4 model.
