Yamaha recently unveiled the 2020 Bolt for international markets. While the motorcycle will go on sale in June, it is unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon. Nevertheless, if launched, it will be a worthy competitor to Harley-Davidson here. Here we list out the specs and features of the new Yamaha Bolt cruiser.
Styling
Yamaha has fitted the Bolt with minimal bodywork on the double-cradle frame. It gets a 13-litre, tear-drop shaped fuel tank, a cropped rear fender and petite side panels that keep the design looking simple and neat. With a pulled-back handlebar and slightly forward set footpegs, the Bolt aims to offer a laid back riding position. Furthermore, the circular LED tail lamp mounted on the rear fender as well as the round headlamp and turn signals add a bit of retro to the Bolt’s appeal.
Speaking of retro, the standard Bolt which is offered in black paint gets a chrome bezel on the headlamp and tail lamp as well as spoke wheels. On the other hand, the top-spec Bolt R sports a blacked-out look and uses machine-cut alloys. It also gets a gold-finished reservoir tank for the rear suspension. The Bolt R is available in a ‘Dark Purple Blue Metallic’ colour with graphics on the tank. Yamaha is also offering the motorcycle in a Sport Heritage edition which gets a white and red colour combination.
Features
Apart from the LED tail lamp, the Yamaha Bolt is equipped with a rather small, single-pod instrument cluster. The unit has an LCD with an assortment of tell-tale signs under it. In terms of electronic rider aids, Yamaha hasn’t been very generous here and has only given the Bolt cruiser a dual-channel ABS as standard.
Cycle Parts
The ABS works together with 298mm petal disc brakes for the front and rear. Meanwhile, damping duties are done by 41mm telescopic forks upfront and twin shocks at the rear. Both variants of the Yamaha Bolt ride on a 19-inch front wheel and 16-inch rear wheel.
Engine
Powering the Yamaha Bolt cruiser is a 942cc, V-twin, four-valve engine that is air-cooled and fuel-injected. This engine produces 53bhp at 5500rpm and 80Nm of torque at 3000rpm, paired with a five-speed gearbox.
