- Yamaha launches the 2020 BW’S 125 in Japan
- Takes inspiration from adventure motorcycles
- Priced at 3,35,500 Yen (approximately Rs 2.38 lakh)
Yamaha has launched the 2020 edition of its unique, adventure-styled scooter, the BW’S 125, in Japan. The company has priced it at 3,35,500 Yen (approximately Rs 2.38 lakh) and plans to sell around 500 units in the country.
The Yamaha BW’S 125 looks inspired by adventure motorcycles with a fully-exposed handlebar accompanied by knuckle guards, beak-like front fender, chunky dual-purpose tyres, front fork gaiters and a carrier at the rear. The apron-mounted headlamp houses halogen bulbs while all the necessary information is displayed on an LCD console with a sporty layout.
Apart from lending it a distinctive ADV styling, Yamaha has also paid attention towards convenience. Under the seat, there’s a large 29-litre storage space and the front apron gets a 4-litre cubby hole on one side and a fuel filler cap on the other, with the key fob sitting at the centre. The foot board also sports a decent space.
The Yamaha BW’S 125 is powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which produces 9.7bhp at 7,500rpm and 9.9Nm at 6,000rpm and comes mated to a CVT gearbox. It is based on an underbone chassis suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers. The 12-inch alloy wheels are anchored by disc brakes at both ends.
At present, Yamaha is not expected to launch the BW’S 125 in India but it has the Fascino 125, Ray ZR 125 and Street Rally 125 which cater to different audiences.
