-New Yamaha MT-03 revealed
-Gets new design and upgraded mechanicals
-Could arrive in India sometime next year
Yamaha has unveiled the 2020 MT-03 for the UK and American markets. The bike sports visual and mechanical changes to set it apart from the previous model.
To begin with, the 2020 MT-03 gets an aggressive-looking LED projector and LED DRL setup which looks similar to the MT-15. It also gets LED turn indicators that replace the conventional units on the earlier MT-03. The fuel tank too gets a new design that gets prominent and muscular tank shrouds. Coming to the rear, the MT-03 is exactly the same as the YZF-R3 that sports a split-seat and sharp tail section.
The MT-03’s biggest mechanical change is the 37mm inverted forks up front instead of the telescopic fork setup on the previous model. Moreover, the bike’s rear monoshock gets revised preload and damping settings along with a stiffer spring. Yamaha has also extended the swingarm that now pivots closer to the centre of the MT-03. In terms of electronics, the bike comes with dual-channel ABS and a new black-over-white LCD screen.
Given that Yamaha already has two motorcycles- the MT-09 and MT-15 from the ‘MT’ range, it is also likely to introduce the new MT-03 in India sometime next year with a price tag of around Rs 3.2 lakh to Rs 3.3 lakh. When launched, it will go head on against the KTM 390 Duke in the country.
