Aprilia has unveiled the 2021 iteration of its flagship supersport motorcycle, the RSV4. The motorcycle will be sold in two variants – RSV4 and RSV4 Factory. The newest iteration of the motorcycle has received a major overhaul and here we explain all the details.
Variants and Colours
The 2021 Aprilia RSV4 will be available in two variants – Standard and Factory. The Factory version will carry higher-spec hardware than the standard variant. The RSV4 Factory gets forged aluminium wheel rims, the semi-active Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension system, and the Brembo Stylema brake callipers. Apart from the hardware, both models are also distinguished by their respective colour options. The standard version will be offered in a single colour theme – Dark Losail. The Factory version, on the other hand, will be sold in two options – Aprilia Black and Lava Red colour schemes.
Design
The 2021 RSV4 gets a complete makeover, and the front fascial now features a sleeker design. The front features the triple LED headlight unit with DRL lights and “bending lights” (cornering lights) function. The updated model also gets a new design for the fuel tank and the saddle that are aimed at allowing the rider to fit perfectly with the fairings, more on-board space, and a more relaxed riding position. The chassis and the swingarm are inspired by the Aprilia RS-GP used in MotoGP.
Engine
Both variants are powered by the same V4 engine. The motor gets revised displacement, and it now makes 1,099cc instead of 1,077 on its predecessor. The Euro5-compliant, liquid-cooled engine produces a maximum power output of 214bhp. The motorcycle also gets a new exhaust system.
Electronics
The 2021 model comes with the new Marelli 11MP ECU and the new, six-axis inertial platform. The motorcycle boasts of six Riding Modes, three for the track (including two customisable) and three for the road (including one customisable). Other electronic aids include traction control, wheelie control, engine brake, and ABS. All the data is available on the new TFT instrumentation.
Hardware
The shock absorption and braking setup is different on both the variants, and the Factory version, as mentioned before, benefits from semi-active Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension and Brembo Stylema brake callipers.
