Piaggio has launched the new 2021 edition of its sport scooter, the Aprilia SR 160, in India. The prices of the scooter start at Rs 1.17 lakh which is a hike of around Rs 10,000 over the previous model. So what all updates do you get for the extra cost? We tell you all about it in this image gallery.
Starting with the cosmetic changes, the front fascia of the scooter has been altered to look sharper and sportier. The front fender is now adorned with more angular lines and deeper contours along with faux air intakes on the handlebar cowl.
Even the headlamp has been redesigned to look more geometrical and pointy. It houses a new high lumen LED headlamp and position lights while the tail light is also a new X-shaped unit.
On the feature front, the biggest change has come in the form of a fully-digital console. This orange backlit LCD has been borrowed from the Aprilia SXR 160 and SXR 125 and shows a host of information.
The seat design of the new Aprilia SR 160 has also changed. While it continues to be a single-piece unit, a cut at the centre makes it look like a split type unit. Aprilia has also fitted it with a larger grab rail for an added pillion comfort.
Under the seat, you get a storage capacity of 11-litres along with an LED boot lamp and a USB charger. The fuel tank capacity of the Aprilia SR 160 continues to be 6-litres.
The scooter has remained unchanged in terms of hardware. It is powered by a 160cc, three-valve, air-cooled engine that comes mated to a CVT transmission and produces 10.84bhp and 11.6Nm.
It rides on large 14-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks at the front and a mono shock at the rear. Braking is taken care of by a disc-drum setup.
Piaggio has also launched the updated version of its smaller sibling, the Aprilia SR 125, and we will bring you the details of the same in the next image gallery.
