- Updated Aprilia SR 160 reaches dealerships
- Gets refreshed styling and new features
- Official launch might take place soon
After being spotted testing on public roads last month, the 2021 edition of the Aprilia SR 160 sport scooter has now started reaching dealerships. This indicates that the official launch of the scooter might be just around the corner.
The picture of the 2021 SR 160 that has surfaced on the internet shows three different colour variants including white, black and one with race edition graphics. We can also see the changes it has received over the previous model. The most prominent revision exists in the front apron which is now sharper and more contoured with a re-designed LED headlamp unit. Even the handlebar cowl gets two air scoop-like recesses.
The pictures also reveal that the face-lifted SR 160 now gets a split-type seat instead of the outgoing version’s single seat. Moreover, the one-piece grab rail also looks much larger than before. Another major update that we have observed in the previous spy shots is the inclusion of a fully-digital LCD console, unlike its predecessor’s semi-digital unit. This looks like the same unit as Aprilia’s maxi-scooter, the SXR 160. The amount of information available might also be the same. Now, it remains to be seen if it gets Bluetooth connectivity.
The 160.03cc, air-cooled, three-valve engine of the new Aprilia SR 160 is likely to remain unchanged. With a power and torque output of 10.84bhp and 11.6Nm, it is already a pretty potent motor. And with 14-inch wheels at both ends along with a taut suspension setup, the scooter handles like a charm. The prices of the existing SR 160 start at Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom) and the upcoming model will certainly be more expensive.
