- 2021 Aprilia Tuono 660 spotted undergoing test runs
- Looked ready for production
- Likely to be globally launched by early 2021
After appearing in patent images in August this year, Aprilia’s upcoming middle-weight street bike, the Tuono 660, has now been spied undergoing road test. The fact that it looked almost ready for production points towards its imminent global launch. Interestingly, it will also certainly come to India next year, as we have reported recently.
As we know, the Tuono 660 will be the naked version of the Aprilia RS660 supersport. While both bikes sport a nearly identical headlamp, tail section and fuel tank, the Tuono gets small fairing on the sides, leaving the engine and frame exposed. While both the siblings share a majority of the components, certain changes have been executed in the Tuono to make it more comfortable and practical than the track-focused RS.
Aprilia has bestowed the Tuono 660 with an easy-to-reach single-piece handlebar and slightly rear-set footpegs to make it more comfortable than the committed ergonomics of its fully-faired iteration. Furthermore, although both bikes share the same 660cc, parallel-twin motor, the Tuono reportedly produces around 95bhp which is lesser than the RS’ 100bhp. However, the former will be as advanced as the latter with features like wheelie control, engine brake control, cornering ABS, traction control and five riding modes.
Once launched, the Aprilia Tuono 660 will compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Z650 and the Triumph Trident 660.
