Benelli has been going all gung-ho with its products by giving them a significant overhaul. And the same treatment was given to its fully-faired offering, the 302R that received major updates for 2021. Interestingly, it is likely to land on the Indian shores by the end of this year. While we wait for that to happen, let’s take a look at the details of the motorcycle.
Re-designed bodywork
The most prominent update comes in the form of a revised styling. The front end of the bike has been redesigned by giving it a more aggressive appearance. There’s an MV Agusta F4-like LED headlamp flanked by sleek DRL strips on both sides. Interestingly, it also gets spoilers sitting under the DRLs for better channeling of air. From the fairing to the tail, the styling is majorly unchanged but a new set of decals lend it a fresh appeal.
New features
Benelli has also made the 2021 302R more modern with a colour TFT dash, as opposed to the older semi-digital unit. The switches are also backlit now that look cool in the dark. Moreover, the overall lighting setup is of LED type.
Better power-to-weight ratio
The 2021 302R continues to be propelled by a 302cc, parallel-twin engine that has witnessed a drop in its power due to Euro5/BS6-bound changes. At 34bhp and 27Nm, it produces around 3bhp lesser than before. However, the power-to-weight ratio of the bike has been improved since the 2021 302R is as much as 22kgs lighter than its predecessor.
Unchanged cycle parts
On the hardware front, the 302R has retained majorly the same cycle parts as before. Underpinned by a steel trellis frame, it is suspended by upside down forks and a monoshock. Stopping power comes from dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
