BMW Motorrad’s latest entrant into the litre-class naked motorcycle scene in India is the 2021 S1000R. The motorcycle is offered in three variants- standard, Pro, and M Sport that are priced at Rs 17.90 lakh, Rs 19.75 lakh, and Rs 22.50 lakh each. (all prices in ex-showroom)
And, the S1000R is available in a choice of three colour options. First up is the Racing Red paint that incorporates red with black. It also gets a black frame, unlike the other colours that come with a copper finished frame. Then there is the Hockenheim Silver Metallic colour that grey and black with yellow graphics. Meanwhile, the Light White/M Motorsport colourway that includes BMW’s signature white, blue and red colours is only available in the top-spec M Sport variant.
Now, for 2021, BMW has updated the S1000R significantly. It is built on the chassis of the new S1000RR and even borrows most of its bodywork from the fully-faired motorcycle; except for the front. The S1000R moves away from the asymmetrical headlamp setup and features a single full-LED unit that is in tune with the rest of the BMW Roadster range that has the F900R and G310R.
And while the 999cc, inline-four mill is the same as its fully-faired sibling, the S1000R gets a slight detune to suit its character. Nevertheless, the electronics package on both motorcycles is the same as consists of anti-wheelie, ABS Pro with cornering capability, dynamic traction control, three riding modes as well as a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display.
