BMW Motorrad has launched the 2021 iteration of the S1000R in India with a price tag of Rs 17.90 lakh for the standard variant. The Pro and M Sport versions will set you back by Rs 19.75 lakh and Rs 22.50 lakh each. In this article, we bring you all details of the S1000R along with images for you to ogle at.
For 2021, BMW has given the S1000R more than just a nip and tuck. The motorcycle gets substantial upgrades that justify the Rs 1.2 lakh premium it demands over the previous-gen model.
To begin with, it receives a single full-LED headlamp unit that is in tune with the rest of the BMW Roadster range. This replaces the asymmetrical headlamps that featured earlier. The other body panels on the 2021 S1000R have also been restyled and it borrows its chassis from the fully-faired S1000RR.
Underneath the ‘Flex’ frame is a retuned version of the S1000RR’s 999cc, inline-four engine. On the naked version, the motor churns out 165bhp at 11,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 9250rpm.
BMW claims that the new S1000R is the lightest motorcycle in its class weighing in at just 199kg for the base model. With the optional equipment, that number can go upto 202kg. However, with the forged wheels and carbon-fiber hoops that are offered as accessories, another 4.5kg can be shaved off.
The comprehensive list of features on the 2021 BMW S1000R includes anti-wheelie ABS Pro with cornering capability and dynamic traction control. It also gets three riding modes as standard and a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display.
BMW is offering the new S1000R in three colours– Racing Red, Hockenheim Silver Metallic, and Light White/M Motorsport that is only with Pro M Sport variant.
