BMW Motorrad India has launched the 2021 S1000R in the country with a starting price tag of Rs 17.90 lakh. The motorcycle is also available in Pro and M Sport variants that are priced at Rs 19.75 lakh and Rs 22.50 lakh respectively. (all prices are ex-showroom)
To start off with, the 2021 BMW S1000R gets new styling. The asymmetrical headlamps that featured in the previous-gen are now replaced by a single, full-LED unit. BMW has also revised the design of the fuel tank, belly pan, and radiator guard to look more angular. As for the tail section and exhaust canister, the 2021 S1000R borrows it from its fully-faired sibling- the S1000RR.
Besides the rear bodywork, the S1000R also shares its chassis with the S1000RR. And fitted inside the frame is a retuned version of the latter’s 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine that churns out 165bhp of power at 11,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 9250rpm. Adding to the numbers, the S1000R is also claimed to be the lightest in the class weighing in at 199kg for the base variant.
Now, BMW is hardly ever known to cut back on the list of features it offers on its motorcycles and the BMW S1000R is no different. It comes with ABS Pro, anti-wheelie, three riding modes-Rain, Road, and Dynamic, dynamic traction control, and a 6.5-inch colour TFT display. Meanwhile, the Pro, M, and Carbon packages additionally come with a host of optional electronic aids and accessories.
Bookings for the 2021 BMW S1000R have commenced and we can expect deliveries to begin sometime later this month across the country. And currently, the motorcycle competes against the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the Kawasaki ZH2 in India.
