- New BMW S1000R India launch tomorrow
- Is likely to be priced between Rs 17-18 lakh
- Major updates compared to the previous model
BMW Motorrad has teased the launch of the 2021 S1000R in India which is scheduled for tomorrow, 15 June. The motorcycle is likely to be priced between Rs 17-18 lakh; a premium over the earlier model that retailed at Rs 16.70 lakh.
Now the S1000R gets a host of updates for 2021. To begin with, it gets a new fascia. The asymmetrical headlamps are replaced by a single, full-LED unit that is similar to the G310R and F900R. Even the fuel tank, radiator guard, and belly pan have been made to look sharper. Meanwhile, the rear section and exhaust can have been borrowed from the fully-faired S1000RR. The naked motorcycle also borrows its chassis from the latter.
And sitting inside the new frame is a retuned version of the S1000RR’s 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine that is capable of producing 165bhp at 11,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 9250rpm. BMW also claims that the S1000R is the lightest motorcycle in the class with the base variant weighing 199kg. The top versions, with the forged wheels and carbon-fiber hoops, are even lighter.
As for the list of features, the BMW S1000R does not disappoint. It comes with anti-wheelie, ABS Pro, dynamic traction control, three riding modes instead of two as standard (Rain, Road, and Dynamic) as well as a 6.5-inch TFT display. The motorcycle also comes with a host of optional electronic aids and accessories in its Pro, M and Carbon packages that are likely to be introduced in India as well.
