Ducati India has confirmed via its social media handles that the 2021 Monster will arrive on our shores very soon. The Euro5-compliant model (equivalent to BS6 emission norms) is already available in several international markets and the India-spec model will feature similar features and specifications as the global version of the motorcycle. Here we tell you what to expect from the India-bound Ducati Monster BS6.
Design
The latest iteration of the Monster gets a complete styling makeover. The new 2021 Ducati Monster packs a leaner and an aggressive design that comprises an oval-shaped headlight, a sharp design for the fuel tank, rear panels, and the upswept exhaust canister with a slash-cut design. Ducati has also revised the ergonomics for a friendlier rider’s triangle. The handlebar on the 2021 model sits 70mm closer to the rider than before. The footpegs, on the other hand, are 10mm lower than the previous model. Internationally, the 2021 Monster is available in three colours – Ducati Red, Dark Stealth, and Aviator Grey with GP Red wheels. We expect all colour options to be available in the Indian market as well.
Features
The feature list on the motorcycle includes full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-ready 4.3-inch TFT display as standard. The Bluetooth module, however, is an optional accessory. The electronic rider aids include three riding modes (Sport, Urban, and Touring), wheelie control, traction control, ABS, cornering ABS, and launch control.
Engine
The mechanical specifications on the international-spec 2021 Ducati Monster include a Euro5-compliant 937cc, Testastretta L-twin engine that makes 111bhp of power at 9,250rpm and 93Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. In comparison, the Monster 821 (now discontinued) was tuned to produce 109bhp and 86Nm. The six-speed gearbox comes standard with an anti-slip clutch and a quickshifter. Expect the India-spec model to carry similar features and output numbers.
Hardware
Ducati has replaced the trellis frame from the old model with a Panigale V4-inspired aluminium chassis on the 2021 Monster. The Italian two-wheeler claims that the new setup is 4.5kg lighter than the unit on the Monster 821. Other weight saving measures include a lighter aluminium swingarm and wheels. The suspension tasks are handled by 43mm upside-down forks at the front and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. The braking setup comprises 320mm twin discs with Brembo M4.32 monobloc four-piston callipers at the front and a single 245mm rotor with Brembo two-piston calliper at the back. The motorcycle tips the weighing scale at 188kg (kerb).
Expected Price
The new Ducati Monster BS6 will most likely carry a price premium over its predecessor and arrive in the Rs 11-12 lakh (ex-showroom) price range. The prices may vary depending on the colour option selected.
