Ducati has launched the 2021 Monster in India with prices starting from Rs 10.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Bookings for the motorcycle have commenced and deliveries are expected to take place soon.
Now the most affordable variant is the Monster Red. The Aviator Grey colour with red wheels and the Dark Stealth colourways cost a slight premium at Rs 11.09 lakh. However, the Ducati Monster Plus version starts from Rs 11.24 lakh and goes upto Rs 11.34 lakh depending on the paint scheme you choose. The difference between the two variants is the addition of a flyscreen and rear seat cowl on the Monster Plus.
The new Monster gets a host of updates compared to the previous-gen. It gets a styling makeover with a more aggressive design. The frame is new and Ducati claims the setup is 4.5kg lighter than the Monster 821. It also gets a lighter aluminum swingarm and wheels. Even the ergonomics have changed with the handlebar 70mm closer to the rider and the footpegs 10mm lower than before. The list of features includes full-LED lighting and a 4.3-inch TFT display with optional Bluetooth connectivity. The rider aids include three riding modes- Sport, Urban, and Touring, wheelie control, traction control, ABS, cornering ABS, as well as launch control.
It comes powered by a 937cc, Testastretta L-twin engine that makes 111bhp of power at 9,250rpm and 93Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. In comparison, the Monster 821 that is now discontinued churned 109bhp and 86Nm. The six-speed gearbox comes with an anti-slip clutch and a quickshifter as standard. In terms of competition, the new Ducati Monster will take on the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Aprilia Tuono 660 in the country.
