- Honda to unveil the 2021 CBR600RR on 21 August
- Features a styling inspired by the new CBR1000RR-R
Honda will take the wraps off the 2021 edition of its iconic supersport, the CBR600RR, on 21 August 2020. The company has already given us a glimpse of the motorcycle through an interesting teaser video revealing a few details about the upcoming bike.
Honda has given it a major design makeover and the new CBR600RR looks heavily inspired by its larger sibling, the new CBR1000RR-R. It gets a sleek, dual-pod headlamp setup housed within an angular fairing which continues to incorporate a centre air intake, similar to the previous generation model. However, for a better down force at high speeds, it gets fairing-mounted winglets now. While the fairing and fuel tank have been redesigned, the tail section continues to sport the trademark under seat exhaust.
The CBR600RR has been revamped on the feature front as it gets a new full-colour TFT display. There could be more advanced rider aids as well. While the supersport will continue to be powered by a 599cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, it has been altered to meet the new emissions norms. Certain revisions are also expected for improving its performance and it will churn out around 110bhp.
In the supersport segment, the 2021 Honda CBR600RR will compete against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, Yamaha YZF R6 and the upcoming Aprilia RS660. Although Honda is unlikely to bring it to India anytime soon, it would make for an ideal option for those who find its litre-class sibling way too intimidating.
