Kawasaki recently brought the new 2021 edition of its flagship motorcycle, the Ninja H2R, to India. It’s currently the most powerful production motorcycle one can buy and it can be ridden only around a race track. Although we won’t ever see it on public roads, let’s gawk at the breath-taking pictures of this ballistic missile.
And a missile it is, given the fact that the rated power output in stock form is 305.7bhp at 14,000rpm. And once kitted with RAM-air intake, the power delivery shoots up to 321.8bhp.
That insane performance number is thanks to the presence of a 998cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This cracker of a mill features a supercharger developed in association with boffins from the turbine and aerospace division of Kawasaki.
For generating down force required to handle the insane speeds that the H2R is capable of, Kawasaki has equipped the bike with large winglets on the front and sides of the fairing.
As fast as the Ninja H2R is, it is equally loaded with high-tech electronic wizardry. There’s traction control, wheelie control, slide control, launch control, engine brake control, and cornering ABS. It gets a Bosch-sourced Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that works with Kawasaki Cornering Management Function.
There’s no compromise on the hardware front either. Fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension setup, Ohlins steering damper, Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers, the motorcycle has it all.
Even the design of the Ninja H2R does justice to the incredible package that it is mechanically. The unconventional front fascia sports large air intakes in place of the headlamp. The carbon fibre-extensive fairing and chiselled fuel tank end into a tail that comprises adjustable hip-supporting pads.
The body panels of the Ninja H2R have been dipped in Mirror Coated Matte Spark Black shade; the only available colour option for the bike. It gets a special coat that allows minor scratches to repair themselves.
