Kawasaki India has introduced the 2021 iteration of the Ninja H2R in our market. The track-only motorcycle has received a price increase and the 2021 model is available at Rs 79.90 lakh as against Rs 75.80 lakh previously, a premium of Rs 4.10 lakh over its predecessor. Here we list the top five highlights of the 2021 Kawasaki Ninja H2R.
Design
The 2021 Ninja H2R carries forward the styling of its predecessor. Thus, the new model continues to use aerodynamic winglets on the fairing and next to the windscreen, a rider-only saddle, a trellis frame, and a single-sided swingarm. The single-sided swingarm setup allows the exhaust silencer to be mounted closer to the bike centreline. The saddle features supporting pads at the back to support the rider during acceleration. The R variant of the H2 family is a track-only motorcycle and thus it misses features such as a headlamp, rear-view mirrors, and turn indicators. The motorcycle tips the weighing scale at 216kg (kerb).
Colour
Similar to its design, the 2021 model retains the paint scheme from the old model. The 2021 Ninja H2R is available in a single paint option – Mirror Coated Matte Spark Black. The paint uses a special coat that allows minor scratches to repair themselves.
Engine
Mechanical Specification continue to feature a supercharged, 998cc, inline-four, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 305.7bhp (321.8bhp with RAM Air) at 14,000rpm and 165Nm of peak torque at 12,500rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox and it requires a minimum octane rating of RON95. The six-speed gearbox benefits from a slipper/assist clutch and a bidirectional quickshifter.
Features
The motorcycle uses a Bosch-sourced Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that works with Kawasaki Cornering Management Function. The IMU setup also allows the instrument cluster to display the bank angle display and maximum bank angle recording function. The electronic rider aids include cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, slide control, launch control, and engine brake control.
Hardware
The suspension setup on the 2021 model includes 43mm upside-down front forks and an Ohlins TTX36 gas-charged rear mono-shock – both fully adjustable. The motorcycle also benefits from an Ohlins electronic steering damper. The anchoring tasks are handled by twin 330mm discs with four-piston Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers at the front and a single 250mm rotor with two-piston Brembo calliper at the back.
