- 2021 Kawasaki Z900 RS launched in the US
- Comes in a new colour option
- Remains unchanged mechanically
The 2021 edition of the Kawasaki Z900 RS Café has been introduced in the US. The changes are limited to visuals and it surely looks classier than the older iteration. The previous Pearl Storm Grey paint scheme has been replaced by the new Metallic Diablo shade. The grey stripes on the fuel tank are thinner now and they extend up to the front cowl. Also, the full-black seat has made way for a dual-tone black and brown unit.
All other aspects of the Kawasaki Z900 RS have remained untouched. It is a typical old-school café racer with a round headlamp surrounded by a large cowl, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a tapering tail section. Sitting under its retro body work is a 948cc, inline four cylinder, 16-valve, liquid-cooled engine that produces 111bhp of power and 98Nm of peak torque. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox accompanied by an assist and slipper clutch.
For a bike with this displacement, the Z900 RS is pretty basic on the feature front. It gets a dual analogue instrument cluster with a small LCD at the centre. Even the rider aids are limited to traction control and switchable ABS. Underpinned by a trellis frame, the motorcycle is suspended by 41mm upside down forks up front and a horizontal back-link monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
Kawasaki has priced the 2021 Z900 RS at $12,099 (approximately Rs 8.87 lakh). The BS4 model of the bike was sold in India with a hefty price tag of Rs 15.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and its comeback is uncertain for now.
