KTM has launched the new 125 Duke in India. It gets a few cosmetic revisions and a bump in price. Here we tell you all there is to know about the most affordable KTM in the country.
Pricing
Let’s get pricing out of the way first. KTM has pegged the 2021 125 Duke at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a premium of Rs 8,000 over the previous model’s 1.42 lakh price tag. So what do you get for the additional money?
New styling
The new KTM 125 Duke gets a cosmetic overhaul inspired by the 200 Duke that was refreshed early this year. So the 125 sports an all-new split trellis frame, sharper body panels and an LED DRL in its headlamp unit. The motorcycle also gets a bigger 13.5-litre fuel tank.
Same engine
There are no changes to its powertrain and the new KTM 125 Duke comes powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 14.3bhp at 9,250rpm and 12Nm at 8,000rpm. The motor comes paired to a six-speed gearbox.
No change in cycle parts
KTM has retained the suspension and braking hardware of the previous model. So, the new 125 Duke rides on WP-sourced upside down forks and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, a single disc at both ends take care of braking and these are assisted by a single-channel ABS.
Competition
Now the KTM 125 Duke continues to compete against the Yamaha MT-15 which is priced much lesser at Rs 1.39 lakh. And in comparison to the KTM, the MT-15 offers features like full-LED lighting for the headlamp, a fresh-looking black on white LCD, and dual-channel ABS. More so, it also gets a much more powerful 155cc engine.
