KTM India will soon introduce the updated RC series that will pack revised styling along with several other upgrades. The update will also affect the RC390, and here we tell you everything you need to know about the latest iteration of the motorcycle.
Design
The recently leaked photographs gave a detailed look at the next-generation RC390. The front fascia on the new model will feature a single-pod LED headlight instead of projector-style units on the outgoing version. The new headlamp is flanked by turn indicators on either side. The fairing has also received revisions, and the updated model features a sharper design. At the back, the motorcycle features a new tail section with a more accommodating pillion seat. Underneath the updated bodywork is a revised frame that now uses a bolted sub-frame. The setup is already available on the latest iteration of the 390 Duke.
Features
The feature list comprises of full-LED lighting as standard. The cockpit will include a Bluetooth-enabled TFT instrument cluster that will be borrowed from the 390 Duke. The company already offers a quickshifter on the 390 Duke and the 390 Adventure. Thus, it would not be surprising to see the feature on the next-generation RC390.
Hardware
The hardware will be similar to the outgoing version. Thus, the suspension setup includes upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock to perform the suspension tasks. The braking setup will continue to use single discs on both wheels while the safety net will include dual-channel ABS. The 2021 model will ride on five-spoke alloy wheels that would be wrapped in Metzeler-sourced tyres.
Engine
The outgoing model already used a BS6-compliant motor, and thus we do not expect to see any major changes to the mechanical specifications. The existing 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor produces 42.9bhp of power and 35Nm of peak torque. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Expected Price
All the updates should push the ex-showroom (Delhi) price tag higher than the outgoing RC390’s Rs 2.76 lakh tag. We expect the updated model to retail closer to the Rs 3 lakh range.
