- Gets a sharper design
- Makes more power than its predecessor
- Gets three colour options
Suzuki has heavily overhauled its litre-class naked roadster, the GSX-S1000 for 2021. The motorcycle has received styling and mechanical upgrades for 2021.
In terms of design, the motorcycle features an all-new look that’s sharper than its predecessor. The front fascia, for example, gets an aggressive LED headlight along with a body-coloured mask and LED blinkers. The vertically-stacked headlight setup looks futuristic, and it should appeal to young buyers. The sharp bodywork also incorporates aerodynamic winglets for added downforce while the shrouds add a muscular look to the fuel tank.
Other features on the 2021 model include a larger (19-litre) fuel tank, a digital instrument cluster, multifunction switchgear, full-LED lighting, split-style seats, and a compact exhaust cannister. The 2021 GSX-S1000 gets three colours - Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Matte Mechanical Gray, and Glass Sparkle Black.
The engine, similar to its predecessor, is based on the GSX-R1000 K5, although it has received upgrades to comply with the newest emission norms. Yet, the 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor manages to make more power than its predecessor. Linked to a six-speed transmission, the engine is tuned to deliver 150bhp at 11,000rpm as against 145bhp at 10,000rpm on the old model.
The electronic rider aids include Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) that brings features such as Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, five-mode Suzuki Traction Control System, bidirectional Quick Shift System, ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System, Low RPM Assist, and Suzuki Easy Start System. The 2021 model also gets a new exhaust system and Suzuki Clutch Assist System.
The hardware on the 2021 model includes 43mm KYB inverted front forks featuring fully-adjustable damping, rebound, compression and spring preload settings. The link-type rear mono-shock comes with adjustable rebound damping and spring preload settings. The braking setup includes twin discs with Brembo callipers at the front and a single rotor with a Nissin calliper at the back. The cast-aluminum, six-spoke wheels are wrapped in Dunlop SPORTMAX Roadsport 2 radial tyres.
