- 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa India launch on 26 April, 2021
- Likely to be priced around Rs 16-18 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Gets a host of updates over its predecessor
Suzuki has finally revealed the India launch date of the 2021 Hayabusa! The latest iteration of the iconic sportsbike is all set to land on our shores on 26 April, 2021. The Indian arm of the Japanese bike maker revealed this on its official social media channel, after teasing its India arrival earlier this month.
The Hayabusa has been enjoying immense popularity in India for years. That’s not only because it was featured in the bollywood movie ‘Dhoom’ in 2004, but also due to its attractive price tag of under Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). That truly made it a value-for-money proposition considering its highly potent 1,340cc, in-line four engine and the record of being the first production bike to surpass the insane 300kmph of top speed.
The 2021 Hayabusa incorporates a host of changes over its predecessor that was sold out in India by early 2020. The new model boasts a revised styling with sharper lines and better aerodynamics. It also gets a full-LED lighting setup along with a new semi-digital instrument cluster featuring a layout similar to the previous model but with an additional TFT screen at the centre.
Taming this beast is a more comprehensive electronics package comprising a six-axis IMU system, ride-by-wire throttle, ABS, traction control, anti-lift control system, engine brake control, launch control, active speed limiter and as many as five riding modes. Providing it with a brutal propulsion force is the same 1,340cc mill that makes 188bhp of power and 150Nm of peak torque. While the power figures are slightly lower now, Suzuki says the torque comes in earlier at 7,000rpm.
Suzuki is likely to price the 2021 Hayabusa substantially higher than its predecessor, somewhere in the ballpark of Rs 16-18 lakh (ex-showroom). As for its competition, the only direct contender it had was the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R that is yet to be launched in its BS6 avatar.
