- Triumph Speed Twin BS6 launched at Rs 10.99 lakh
- Makes more power than the BS4 model
- Available in three colours
Triumph Motorcycles India has updated its portfolio with the launch of the BS6-compliant Speed Twin at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The pre-bookings for the motorcycle had commenced in June this year for a token amount of Rs 50,000.
The BS6-compliant model retains the 1,200cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled layout, although it now makes more power than before. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor on the BS6 model produces 98.6bhp of maximum power at 7,250rpm and 112Nm of peak torque at 4,250rpm. In comparison, the old model made 96bhp of maximum power and 112Nm of peak torque at 4,950rpm.
Apart from mechanical revisions to comply with the newer, more stringent emission norms, the new Speed Twin also benefits from updated hardware. The suspension setup, for example, now uses 43mm Marzocchi upside-down front forks instead of conventional units on its predecessor. The shock absorption tasks at the rear are handled by preload-adjustable twin-sided springs. The braking setup at the front now uses Brembo M50 callipers that grab the 320mm twin discs. The anchoring hardware at the rear includes a 220mm single rotor with a Nissin-sourced calliper. The alloy wheels would come shod in Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.
The BS6 model also gets new anodised headlight mounts, new mudguard mounts, 12-spoke alloy wheels, and new graphics. The motorcycle is available in three colours – Red Hopper, Matte Storm Grey, and Jet Black. Triumph Motorcycles will offer 50 custom accessories that would further enhance the styling, practicality, and security of the Speed Twin. These would include a quilted seat in brown/black, tyre pressure monitoring system, engine embellishers, radiator and sump guard, heated grips, and an alarm.
