- 2021 Yamaha MT-09 SP unveiled
- Gets top-spec suspension setup
- Powered by the same 890cc engine as regular model
After showcasing the updated Yamaha MT-09 recently, the Japanese manufacturer has hyped up the package with the introduction of the 2021 MT-09 SP for international markets.
The MT-09 SP as its name suggests is based on the regular motorcycle although with a top-spec suspension upgrade. It features fully-adjustable KYB forks that get separate adjusters for high and low-speed rebound and compression damping. At the rear, the 2021 Yamaha MT-09 SP comes with an Ohlins monoshock; again, fully-adjustable along with a brushed aluminium swingarm.
Furthermore, Yamaha has also added cruise control to the top-spec MT-09 SP. Apart from these changes, the SP and standard versions are identical. The MT-09 SP is powered by the same Euro 5-compliant 890cc, inline-three cylinder motor. It even sports the same electronic riding aids, quick shifter, slipper and assist clutch that the standard MT-09 features.
We can expect Yamaha to introduce the 2021 MT-09 in India sometime next year to take on the Triumph Street Triple RS, Kawasaki Z900, BMW F900R and the Ducati Monster 821 in the country.
