Yamaha has unveiled the updated Ray ZR 125 with Hybrid Power Assist technology for the Indian market. While most of the details are available already, the company is yet to announce the prices for the updated Ray ZR 125 series. Here we explain all the details about the new Yamaha Ray ZR 125 range.
Variants and Colours
The 2021 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 will be available in two variants – Standard and Rally. The colour options for the Ray ZR Street Rally would include Matte Green and Matte Orange. The standard version would be available in Racing Blue, Reddish Yellow Cocktail, Matte Red Metallic, Cyan Blue, and Metallic Black paint options.
Design
The styling cues on the 2021 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 range will remain similar to the 2020 model. Thus, the scooter will continue to feature a muscular design, an apron-mounted headlight, a Y-shaped DRL, and a tinted flyscreen. The scooter, as mentioned above, will be available in two variants. Both variants use similar underpinnings, although the Rally variant gets a separate set of graphics, different colour options, and few additional styling elements. The additional features on the Rally variant include styling elements on the front apron and on the sides, and a pair of knuckle guards on the handlebar.
Features
While the styling and cycle parts are similar to the 2020 model, Yamaha has updated the Ray ZR 125 range with the addition of a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster, a new hybrid power assist technology, and revised graphics across the body. The Bluetooth-module will work with the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X smartphone app. The new models also get an LED headlight that replaces the halogen unit on the 2020 version. These added features should appeal to the young buyers, and help the company to sell more units of the scooters.
Engine
Mechanical upgrades would include a 125cc, single-cylinder engine with a hybrid power assist feature. The updated motor will produce 8.04bhp of power and 10.3Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the 2020 model was tuned to deliver 8.04bhp and 9.7Nm of peak torque.
Hardware
The 2021 model continues to use telescopic front forks and a single rear spring to handle the suspension duties. The anchoring power comes from a disc at the front and a drum unit at the back while the safety net is handled by a combined braking system.
