- 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 unveiled
- Power output increased by around 1.5bhp
- S variant gets revised suspension setup
The Ducati Panigale V4 was already one of the most accomplished sportbikes on this planet. However, the Italian brand saw room for improvement and gave it a comprehensive update for the model year 2022. The wraps have been taken off the new version of the Panigale V4 at the ongoing Ducati World Premiere.
While the overall styling of the motorcycle is essentially the same, the design of the wings mounted on the fairing is more compact. But it continues to generate 37kg of downforce at 300kmph of speed. In order to improve the cooling, the vents in the lower fairing have also been tweaked.
The 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 motor of the Panigale V4 is unchanged at the core. However, subtle alterations have resulted in a performance bump of around 1.5bhp and the motorcycle now makes a staggering 215bhp of power. This has been achieved by updating the oil pump and lubrication system, besides including larger exhaust canisters for reducing exhaust back pressure. What’s more, Ducati has also revised the gear ratios for improving the acceleration, despite the fact that the acceleration was already brutal.
Ducati has also tinkered with the electronics and made changes to its ride-by-wire setup. As a result, there are four riding modes now namely Full, High, Medium and Low. As for the hardware, the standard Panigale V4 continues to get fully-adjustable 43mm Show Big Piston forks. However, the SP variant’s NIX30 has now made way for new Ohlins NPX 25/30 electronic forks up front. At the rear, the standard continues with Sacks mono-shock and the S retains its TTX36 spring.
All the information continues to be shown on a five-inch colour TFT dash. What’s new though is a Track EVO mode which changes the overall theme of the data. Meanwhile, electronic aids like traction control, wheelie control, slide control, engine brake control, power launch, and bi-direction quick shifter are still a part of the package.
In select international markets, Ducati will roll out the 2022 Panigale V4 starting next month. We expect it to arrive on our shores early next year with a price tag higher than the existing version that starts from Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
