2022 Honda CBR500R: Details Explained

Honda has released the 2022 CBR500R for the international markets. The latest iteration of the motorcycle gets several styling and hardware upgrades over its predecessor. Here we explain the top details of the 2022 Honda CBR500R.

New Colour

The 2022 CBR500R gets a new colour. The existing Grand Prix Red paint is now joined by Matte Gunpower Black Metallic colour option.

Similar Styling

The styling revisions are limited to the addition of the new colour option. Thus, the motorcycle retains the twin-pod headlight assembly, a full-fairing design, split-style seat, and a side-slung exhaust. While the design remains similar to the 2021 model, the latest iteration of the CBR500R gets redesigned wheels, a lighter radiator, and a more powerful LED headlight. The MY22 CBR500R features new lighter wheels with five Y-shaped spokes instead of the six-spoke design on the previous model.

Improved Hardware

The new CBR500R gets improved hardware than the 2021 model. The suspension setup now includes Showa 41mm Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks at the front instead of conventional units on the old model. The rear retains a mono-shock. However, Honda said that the rear mono-shock gets a revised setting to complement the new front forks. The anchoring hardware, too, gets a revision and the 2022 model uses twin 296mm discs at the front instead of a single 320mm rotor on the previous model. The front uses dual 296mm discs with radial-mount four-piston callipers while the rear gets a single 240mm rotor with a single piston calliper.

Mechanical Specifications

The mechanical specifications retain the 471cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor. However, Honda has revised the fuel-injection system settings to deliver improved torque. Linked to a six-speed transmission, the engine on the 2022 model is tuned to deliver 46.9bhp at 8,600rpm and 43Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.

Features

The motorcycle packs features such as full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster. The LCD console shows the speedometer, tachometer, dual trip meters, fuel level indicator, consumption gauge, clock, coolant temperature, gear position, and a shift up indicator. The electronic rider aids comprise a dual-channel ABS.
