- Gets new Matte Gunpower Black Metallic paint
- 2022 model gets Showa USD front forks
- Braking hardware now includes twin discs at the front
The 2022 Honda CBR500R gets several upgrades over its predecessor. These include styling revisions in the form of a new colour and improved hardware. The Grand Prix Red colour option is now joined by Matte Gunpower Black Metallic paint. The 2022 model also gets redesigned wheels, a lighter radiator, and a more powerful LED headlight.
Apart from styling upgrades, the latest iteration of the middleweight motorcycle also gets improved hardware. The suspension setup, for example, now includes Showa 41mm Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks at the front, while the rear retains a mono-shock. The anchoring tasks on the 2022 model are handled by twin discs at the front instead of a single rotor on the previous model.
The mechanical specifications retain the 471cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. However, Honda has revised the fuel-injection system settings to deliver improved torque. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned to deliver 46.9bhp at 8,600rpm and 43Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.
