Honda 2Wheelers India has announced the launch of the 2022 CBR650R at an ex-showroom (Haryana) price tag of Rs 9,35,427. The motorcycle, which is imported via the completely knocked down route, rivals the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 in the Indian market. Here we list the top five highlights of the 2022 Honda CBR650R.
Design
The 2022 Honda CBR650R retains the styling cues of the 2021 model. Thus, the latest iteration of the motorcycle continues to feature the CBR1000RR Fireblade inspired styling that comprises a twin-pod headlight, fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, a full-fairing design, a muscular fuel tank, split-style seats, and a compact exhaust canister. The clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs deliver a sporty rider’s triangle. Buyers can choose the motorcycle from two options.
Colours
The 2022 model is available in two colours – Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. While the colour palette is similar to the 2021 model, the new CBR650R gets fresh graphics. The Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic trim gets black decals along with highlights of orange. The Grand Prix Red, on the other hand, gets graphics in black, white, and grey.
Engine
The 2022 CBR650R continues to use a BS6-compliant 648.72cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned to produce 85.82bhp of power at 12,000rpm and 57.5Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm.
Features
The feature list is retained from the 2021 model and the latest iteration of the Japanese middleweight motorcycle continues to feature full-LED lighting, an LCD instrument cluster, a dual-channel ABS, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Honda Ignition Security System (HISS), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) technology. The six-speed gearbox benefits from an assist and slipper clutch.
Hardware
The 2022 model continues to use the same hardware as its predecessor. Thus, the suspension tasks are handled by 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. The braking tasks are handled by twin 310mm discs at the front and a 240mm rotor at the back. The motorcycle is built around a steel diamond frame, boasts a 15.4-litre fuel tank, and tips the weighing scale at 211kg (kerb).
