Honda 2Wheelers India has launched the 2022 CBR650R in our market at a premium price tag of Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Haryana). The BS6-compliant 648.72cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine on the CBR650R produces 85.82bhp of power at 12,000rpm and 57.5Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. This inline four-cylinder middleweight model from the Japanese two-wheeler maker is imported via the completely knocked down (CKD) route in the country and rivals the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 650 in India. Here we list the alternatives that potential buyers can consider in a similar price range.
While the Honda CBR650R rivals the Ninja 650, the Kawasaki middleweight model retails at a much lower price tag. In fact, for the price of the 2022 Honda CBR650R, buyers can consider the Z900 roadster that is available for Rs 8.50 lakh. The 948cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on this Japanese roadster makes a much higher 124bhp at 9,500rpm and 98.6Nm of peak torque at 7,700rpm. The feature list includes an LED headlight, an LED taillight, and a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display.
The Honda CB650R uses the same 648.72cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine as the CBR650R. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor makes 85.82bhp of power at 12,000rpm and 57.5Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. Unlike the CBR650R, the roadster version misses the fairing design and sportier ergonomics. Instead, it features a naked roadster styling and packs a relatively upright rider’s triangle. The feature list is similar to the CBR650R, and the roadster motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer, too, uses LED lighting and a LCD instrument cluster.
Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT (Rs 8.84 lakh)
Suzuki’s middleweight adventure tourer is a suitable alternative for anyone who is looking for a more rugged package. The rugged design comprises tubeless-tyre compatible wire-spoke wheels, beak design for the front fairing, a tall windscreen, and knuckle guards. The 645cc, V-twin, liquid-cooled motor on the V-Strom 650 XT makes 69.7bhp at 8,800rpm and 62Nm of peak torque at 6,300rpm. The feature list is slightly subtler, and the V-Strom 650 XT uses a halogen headlight and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
Triumph Street Triple R (Rs 9.15 lakh)
The Triumph Street Triple R naked roadster, which retails at a slightly lower price tag than the Honda CBR650R, packs more performance than the Japanese motorcycle. The 765cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine makes 116.4bhp at 12,000rpm and 79Nm at 9,350rpm. The feature list comprises LED lighting and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
BMW Motorrad’s stylish maxi-scooter is available at a premium price tag of Rs 9.95 lakh. While the C 400 GT does not pack as much power as other vehicles listed here, it is one of the most stylish two-wheelers in the Indian market. This maxi-scooter is powered by a 350cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 33.5bhp at 7,500rpm and 35.2Nm at 5,750rpm. The feature list is premium, and the BMW C 400 GT packs full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled fully-digital instrument cluster.
All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi (except Honda CBR650R)
