- Priced at Rs 4.99 lakh, ex-showroom
- Gets new colour, BS6-compliant engine
- Competes against KTM RC 390
The Kawasaki Ninja 400 is finally back in India after being taken off the shelves a couple of years ago. The motorcycle is now launched in its BS6-avatar and comes with a price tag of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Now, this price is almost the same as it was on the previous model although the 2022 model does get a few changes- the biggest of which are to its engine. Kawasaki has tuned the 399cc, parallel-twin motor to comply with BS6 emission norms and in turn, has reduced the torque minutely. So the Ninja 400 now churns out 44bhp and 37Nm. In comparison, the KTM RC 390’s 373cc, single-cylinder motor is capable of churning out 42.9bhp and 37Nm.
Besides the tweaked engine, the 2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400 also comes with new colour options. There is Lime Green with Ebony and Metallic Carbon Gray that featured Green highlights. Well, that said, the rest of the motorcycle remains the same in terms of design, features and hardware. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable monoshock for the rear. Meanwhile, a single 310mm at the front and a single 220mm rotor at the back perform braking duties and are accompanied by a dual-channel ABS system.
The Kawasaki Ninja 400 goes up against the KTM RC 390 that has received significant updates with the 2022 model. However, the Ninja 400 costs a hefty premium over the latter that is priced at Rs 3.14 lakh, ex-showroom.
