In June, Kawasaki India launched the 2022 Versys 650 in India at Rs 7,36,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike received some notable tweaks for its latest iteration including cosmetics and features. We recently tested it for a few days and here’s our review through these high-resolution images.
The most evident update for the 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 is its fascia. Resembling the Versys 1000, the middleweight ADV features a comparatively sharp split LED headlight setup than the 2021 model. It also gets a revised windscreen setup which is easier to adjust than the one on the previous model. But the wind protection could improve to avoid buffeting.
Apart from the design changes, Kawasaki has also equipped the 2022 Versys 650 with a new TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. The switchgear has also been revamped to access all the new features. That said, the overall fit and finish of the new model are very solid.
It’s powered by the same 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that the 2021 model used. The output too remains unaltered at 65.7bhp and 61Nm. It’s mated to a six-speed gearbox and offers a very linear power delivery.
Even at 120kmph in the six gear at around 6,000rpm, the motor has enough grunt in reserve for quick overtakes. The gearbox is also smooth but the clutch feels a tad stiff.
The rider triangle on the Kawasaki Versys 650 is upright and spacious, helping you comfortably cover the ground. Complementing the setup is the Showa Separate Function Forks at the front and remote preload-adjustable rear monoshock.
The twin 300mm front rotor and the 250mm unit at the back offer a good bite to shed speeds quickly. The Versys 650’s handling is quite commendable, thanks to its 17-inch alloys. But the stock tyres’ wet grip isn’t enough.
Besides LED illumination and the TFT display, Kawasaki has also included the traction control system on the feature front. The latter adds to the user experience and is easy to navigate in the menu. But the same can be said for the Bluetooth connection.
The 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 offers the same fuel efficiency as the 2021 model – 19.4kmpl. So, it should help you clock about 400km in one full tank, 21-litres. Head here to read our full road test review of the 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650.
