Kawasaki has just launched its 2022 Z650 in the US. The street naked bike now comes with only cosmetic updates and demands a premium of USD 100 over the 2021 model. There are only two variants available, ABS and non-ABS, that are offered in two different colour schemes. Meanwhile, the Japanese manufacturer already retails the BS6 model in the Indian market at Rs 6.18 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai).
Engine
It's powered by a 649cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine that sits in a steel trellis frame and produces 65.75Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. All this torque is taken to its wheels via a six-speed transmission. Meanwhile, the Z650 is already available in the Indian market with a BS6 compliant engine with similar displacement that churns out 1.55Nm more at 6,700rpm.
Design
The 2022 Kawasaki Z650 remains quite similar in terms of design compared to the 2021 model. It is a sharp and muscular looking street naked motorcycle with tank extensions on both sides, graphics throughout its body, an underbelly exhaust, split-style seat with grab handle strap and reflectors on its sides. It is offered in two colour options: Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black with the Non-ABS variant and Pearl Robotic White/Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray with the ABS variant.
Features
The street naked bike comes with features like LED headlight, TFT instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity with Rideology app and slipper clutch. It further comes with an economical riding indicator that helps the rider to extract the best efficiency from the street naked motorcycle.
Hardware
The suspension duty is handled by telescopic forks at the front and horizontal back-link with adjustable preload suspension at the rear. Meanwhile, the braking is taken care of by a 300mm dual-petal disc at the front and a single 220mm petal-style disc at the rear assisted by dual-channel ABS. The street naked motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels. Those wheels are wrapped with tyres having 120mm width at the front and 160mm width at the rear.
