Kawasaki has launched its 2022 Z900 in the US. The new Z900 is only offered with two new colour options. Mechanically, the motorcycle remains the same. The 2022 iteration of the motorcycle is only available with an ABS version that demands a premium of USD 100 over the 2021 model. Meanwhile, the Japanese manufacturer already retails the BS6 model in the Indian market at Rs 8.34 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai).
Engine
Powering the Z900 is a 948cc four-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC motor that delivers 99.11Nm of twist at 7,700rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox that is used to transmit power to its wheels. Meanwhile, the Z900 is already available in the Indian market with a BS6 compliant engine with similar displacement that churns out 0.51Nm lesser torque.
Design
In terms of design, the Z900 looks quite aggressive and muscular. It's a sharp-looking motorcycle that comes with a tank extension on both sides, graphics throughout its body, a beefy exhaust with metal cover, split seat setup with grab handle strap and reflectors on its sides. There are two colour options on offer: Pearl Robotic White/Metallic Spark Black and Metallic Matte Twilight Blue/Metallic Spark Black.
Features
It is offered with features like LED headlight, TFT instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity with Rideology app and slipper clutch. It further comes with an economical riding indicator that helps the rider to extract the best efficiency from the naked roadster. The 2022 iteration of the motorcycle is also available with a few safety features like dual-channel ABS and Kawasaki Traction Control.
Hardware
The ride here is taken care of by 41mm inverted forks at the front and horizontal back-link suspension at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking it employs a 300mm dual-petal disc at the front and a 250mm single petal-style disc at the rear assisted by dual-channel ABS. The naked roadster rides on 17-inch wheels. Those wheels are wrapped with tyres having 120mm width at the front and 180mm width at the rear.
