KTM has unveiled the 2022 RC series for the international markets, and the updated motorcycles are expected to be available in India in September 2021. While we await the official launch details, here we explain the international-spec 2022 KTM RC 125 in detail.
Design
The 2022 RC 125 will feature an all-new design that will be similar to the 2022 RC 390. Thus, the motorcycle will pack a single-pod headlight, fairing-mounted front turn indicators, a sharper design, a 13.7-litre fuel tank, a revised tail section, and five-spoke alloy wheels. The new wheels are claimed to save 3.4kg from the weight. KTM also claims that the revised frame sheds 1.5kg over the old motorcycle. Similar to the rest of the range, the 2022 RC 125 features a bolted sub-frame.
Features
The international-spec 2022 RC 125 will pack premium features such as full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display as standard. The Bluetooth module works with the KTM MY RIDE smartphone app to offer access to music and incoming calls. The international model will also get a Bosch 9.1 MB dual-channel ABS with Supermoto mode that disengages the safety net on the rear wheel. The India-spec model may get a relatively lower-spec feature list to keep the costs low and prices competitive. The official details are unavailable yet.
Colours
Internationally, the 2022 KTM RC 125 is available in two colours – Black and White. Both colour options feature orange paint to the sub-frame and alloy wheels. The White variant, however, gets a black paint to the primary frame. We may see both colour options in the Indian market.
Engine
The mechanical specifications on KTM’s international website list a higher power output figures than the outgoing India-spec model. The 124.7cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor on the 2022 RC 125 is claimed to produce an impressive 15kW or 20bhp of maximum power as against 14.5bhp on the Indian model. The torque output of 12Nm, on the other hand, is identical on both versions.
Hardware
The suspension setup on the 2022 model include 43mm WP Apex upside-down front forks and a WP Apex rear mono-shock. The anchoring tasks are handled by a 320mm disc with a radially-mounted, four-piston ByBre calliper at the front and a 230mm disc with a one-piston, fixed calliper at the rear. The motorcycle boasts a dry weight of 147kg.
